Mark Pampling has always been attracted to crisp lines and exacting craftsmanship – both qualities are often found in his work.  He has become known for his structural approach to floral design – a technical approach that leaves ample room to respect plant material and showcase its beauty.

Mark’s interest in floral design originated in his home town of Toowoomba, long known for its annual Carnival of Flowers.

Mark has been awarded Australia’s top floristry prize, the Interflora Australia Cup, on multiple occasions and has been highly placed in a number of international competitions and exhibitions, including a 3rd placing at the Interflora World Cup in 2004 when he represented Australia.  He represented Australia again at the Asia Cup in Japan in July 2014, and he won the ‘Best in Show’ Award with his display at the inaugural International Flower Show Japan at Huis Ten Bosch in October the same year.  In March 2015 he was named the 2014 Fusion Flowers Magazine International Designer of the Year.

Many different flower related roles fill Mark’s extensive resume.  Teaching, demonstrating, judging, designing and consulting have taken him all around Australia and most recently to Spain, New Zealand, China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Germany, Belgium, Scotland and the UK.  Mark is also a frequent contributor to international floral design publications, most regularly to Fusion Flowers Magazine.  He is also co-owner of Alstonville Florist in northern New South Wales, Australia.

For Mark, inspiration is everywhere and nowhere – he uses each new project and design opportunity to explore potential new sources of inspiration, challenging his creativity and talents to reach new heights.
