Occasion! founder, and CEO Annette Kunz began her special event floral business in 2001, after completing the Floral Design Program offered through Filoli, a National Trust Estate in Woodside Ca., and working in the local floral trade. During the 10 years she did special events, Annette created event design and fine floral work for topnotch venues and homes throughout the Monterey Peninsula. Clients sought her expertise knowing she would provide them a truly exceptional and unexpected design experience. Annette’s work has been published in books, magazines, newspapers and TV. Both the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco (Bouquets to Art) and the Monterey Museum of Art (Art in Bloom) have used pictures of Annette’s work for all their promotional materials for their floral shows. She created and implemented the Floral Design Program at the Monterey Peninsula Country Club as well, which included a step-by-step and philosophies manual for completing basic floral designs. Having experienced many floral workshops and lecture demonstrations abroad and finding them invaluable, she decided to provide floral designers unique opportunities to study here in the States. As well as providing these classes and demonstrations herself, Annette also hosts and coordinates workshops and lecture demonstrations given by top international florists. In February 2014, Annette through Occasion! hosted and coordinated a 3-day Floral Workshop, followed by Lecture Demonstrations in the Bay Area and the Monterey Peninsula, by the master of all Master Florists, Gregor Lersch. Gregor’s events received rave reviews and drew national attendance. Annette is also thrilled to announce she has been invited to offer her workshops and lecture demonstrations given by top international florists, in collaboration with the San Francisco Flower & Garden Show, and was delighted to accept their invitation. These fabulous opportunities for learning, allow floral designers to learn the latest international techniques, which are not commonly found here in the states.
